Learn Everything You Need To Know About Bringing Home A New Pup

Important Information

Care

Your new Maltese puppy will require lots of care! So allow us to help you navigate your way as a new puppy parent. Maltese have long, silky coats that need regular attention and brushing; they are hypoallergenic and non-shedding. It is important to keep your puppy up to date on all vaccines and be cautious when bringing your new baby home, as they will likely not be fully vaccinated and susceptible to diseases carried by other dogs. For diet, we recommend leaving food out regularly as small breeds such as Maltese are prone to low blood sugar, especially during the stress of transitioning into their new home.

Potty Training

Potty Training is an important part of a young pup’s life as it determines the habits they will carry for the rest of their life. Potty training is not as hard as it can be portrayed. We recommend crate training, but you can also use pee-pad training as an alternative. Remember to be patient with your new pups, as they are still young and learning!

Enrichment

New puppies need lots of enrichment for their developing minds. Make sure to provide your puppy with lots of toys, treats, play, love, and outside time. Another good way to provide enrichment is to incorporate a snuffle mat into their feeding routine, as it provides stimulation.
